Hey, for gentoo.org I think it would be a good idea to host the images |
2 |
(the logo, the purple heart-shaped image, etc.) on the gentoo.org server |
3 |
itself, instead of ibiblio.org or qksrv.net. The reason for this is that many |
4 |
linux users enable Mozilla's "accept images from the originating server |
5 |
only" preference option, with the intent of disabling many ads. |
6 |
|
7 |
On the left sidebar, I think you should put some sort of bullet image, |
8 |
because the links run together. This would help differentiate each |
9 |
individual link. |
10 |
|
11 |
For the color scheme, I think that red should be removed. The red "(new!)" |
12 |
on the left sidebar and the red gentoo logo on the front page should both |
13 |
be green imho. The blue links should also be replaced with a color in the |
14 |
purple/green/white/back color scheme. I think this would result in a more |
15 |
professional-looking design. Alternatively, if you want to keep the blue |
16 |
and red in the color scheme, they should be better integrated. That is, it |
17 |
should be obvious what the website's color scheme is, instead of a |
18 |
primarily purple/green/white/black color scheme with a few bits of red |
19 |
text, and blue links. |
20 |
|
21 |
For the top interface, there's a huge amount of wasted black space doing |
22 |
absolutely nothing, which I think looks bad. I think it would be better to |
23 |
switch from a 2 rows x 3 columns table layout to a 1 row x 3 columns |
24 |
layout, where the gentoo logo is better integrated with the design, |
25 |
instead of being a different shade of purple and sticking out somewhat. |
26 |
Then, the top interface wouldn't need to be aligned with the logo and |
27 |
wouldn't have to waste all that space. |
28 |
|
29 |
Thanks, |
