12 Of course in the case that the patch is not truly arch-specific, but is
13 being applied to a single arch only out of "courtesy" to the
14 maintainter, I would say that it is a bad idea.

16 My general approach to this second case is to make the change
17 arch-specific and then file a bug and/or email to the maintainer to
18 make it arch-independent. I also throw a todo in my calendar reminding
19 me to bug the said maintainer if there is no reply in 1 month.
