3 I used to have portage 2.0.44 installed which was the trouble maker.

5 I had an empty /etc/ls.do.preload but removing it made no difference.

7 Hoewver, once I added FEATURES="-sandbox", emerge started working again
8 and I used it to update portage to version 2.0.45-r1. Now I no longer
9 need -sanbox set anymore since portage is now working correctly.

11 I am not sure yet what was the problem but it sure nice to have a
