I think a better idea would be to install a basic Gentoo system on another |

partition, then reboot to Mandrake, chroot to your Gentoo partition and start |

emerging. You can continue using Mandrake while keeping an eye on your |

terminal window to see what's happening on your Gentoo partition. |

I haven't done this with Gentoo, but I did exactly this (for the same reason |

as you) when installing Sorcerer and it is definitely feasible. |
