8 I think a better idea would be to install a basic Gentoo system on another
9 partition, then reboot to Mandrake, chroot to your Gentoo partition and start
10 emerging. You can continue using Mandrake while keeping an eye on your
11 terminal window to see what's happening on your Gentoo partition.

13 I haven't done this with Gentoo, but I did exactly this (for the same reason
14 as you) when installing Sorcerer and it is definitely feasible.
