[gentoo-dev] i586 install cd + PCMCIA

Hi there, I was trying to get a pcmcia network card installed on a Compaq
Armada 1530d laptop while booting from the
gentoo-i586-exclusive-bin-1.0_rc5.iso cd.

I had trouble at the point of trying a
>> modprobe pcmcia_core
which failed citing unresolved symbols for pci_insert_device,
pci_setup_device and pci_remove_device.

I haven't used pcmcia on a linux system before, so:
a) am I trying the right thing first?
b) is this a bug on the cd?

laptop is p133 MMX w/ 32Mb ram, 1.4Gb harddisk, pcmcia card is a dlink
660TX. kernel is obviously 2.4.4-ac9 :)
