Makes sense to me.

You might want to call it something other than sgml since a lot of it's 
shifting to (or already has shifted to) xml.

Sure, and note that you can put aliases in other aliases (i.e., add 
'sgml/xml' or whatever and 'tex' to the 'text-markup' alias instead of 
having to specify all the nicks twice).
