The trick is to add "alsa" to your USE setting in /etc/make.conf. Then the |

linux-sources will include a /usr/src/linux/extras/alsa directory, and when |

you merge linux-extras (a special package that uses your *current* sources |

in /usr/src/linux) it will use the sources in /usr/src/linux/extras/alsa to |

install the alsa modules and includes. |

So, if you are using linux-sources, add "alsa" to USE, remerge linux-sources, |

then remerge linux-extras and you should have alsa available to you. |
