10 IRC communication is not that obsolete, it still serves its purpose :)
11 Plus XMPP still does not support ZNC style quite well so you cant be
12 online 24/7 and have same chat-data/history on all your clients, unless
13 you ssh somewhere on box where you run CLI XMPP client.

15 OTOH quite few gentoo devs use XMPP in form of google-talk facebook-chat
16 or some good old standalone XMPP server...
