1 hey i just was to say first of all that gentoo linux is pretty sweet.
2 it's a nice middle ground for people who've only used redhat and the
3 like but want to know more about linux.

5 anyway the reason i'm writing is that i think there should be a guide up
6 about how to manually compile XFree86 to use tdfx direct rendering
7 infrastructure.

9 as you might expect, i had to install glide, install glide-v5, decompile
10 xfree86, edit the host.def, and compile xfree86.

12 since i already had the xf86 source from when i emerged it, it wasn't
13 such a bad deal. but i still had to check newsgroups and look around
14 for a couple of days before i figured out how exactly to do it.

16 so if you could throw something up (i'll write if up if you like :p) on
17 the webpage, i'd feel much better about it.
