Hi all, |
2 |
|
3 |
Our docs now support <date> elements formatted as 'YYYY-MM-DD'. |
4 |
The reasons for implementing that are: |
5 |
. consistency |
6 |
. usable in scripts |
7 |
. easier on translators |
8 |
|
9 |
Dates that are not formatted as YYYY-MM-DD (or invalid ones) will be copied |
10 |
verbatim for backwards compatibility. |
11 |
Dates will be formatted in the language specified in the lang attribute of the |
12 |
root element. English is the default. |
13 |
You can experiment with the date formatting at |
14 |
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gdp/tests/testdate.xml |
15 |
|
16 |
|
17 |
In *handbooks*, we recently introduced <date> elements in all included files. |
18 |
The displayed date will now be the alphabetical max of the dates in the master |
19 |
file, i.e. handbook-x86.xml, and in all included files. |
20 |
If you only have a date element in the master file, no change for you. |
21 |
If you include some of the /doc/en/handbook/ files, please convert your |
22 |
date(s) to the new format so that your handbooks can display the latest date. |
23 |
FYI, if you use a date like 'MonthName day, year' in your master file, it will |
24 |
be displayed because (letters > digits). |
25 |
|
26 |
Translators: |
27 |
Dates in regular guides can be progressively converted whenever a doc is |
28 |
upgraded, no need to rush. |
29 |
If you already have dates in your hb-*xml, they should be converted. Feel free |
30 |
to ask for help if you want to script it with sed or whatever. |
31 |
|
32 |
Feedback and complaints can be addressed to our gentoo-doc@g.o ML. |
33 |
|
34 |
|
35 |
With kind regards, |
36 |
