[gentoo-hardened] profile problem in stage3-i686-hardened-20090520.tar.bz2

I was testing out the new hardened autobuilds and notice that profile
doesn't appear to be set according to profile-config, however, the
symbolic link is correct.  In contrast, unhardened
stage3-i686-20090520.tar.bz2 shows [1] as selected.  I tried tracing the
origins of the problem from profile-config but couldn't see it.
