I'm running hardened-sources-2.6.20-r2. My boxes are running stable for |

weeks with it. |

When I first tried to bump above 2.6.20, I faced with several problems. I |

wasn't in a hurry and I waited for 2.6.22. |

Then I tried hardened-sources-2.6.22- and -2.6.23. |

With both kernels I have the same symptoms: |

After same minutes of activity one of these programs gets killed: |
| 9 |
nautilus, Gecko (Firefox) or gnome-terminal. These are the programs I |
| 10 |
usually launch when I log in to X. I'm a gnome user. |
| 11 |
There can be no log messages found in either of the system logs. |
| 12 |
The only error message I can capture looks like this: |

"The program 'nautilus' received an X Window System error. |
| 15 |
This probably reflects a bug in the program. |
| 16 |
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. |

(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; |

that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. |

This issue seems to hit the above mentioned programs in a random manner. |

After the symptom pops up, it soon end up in a state, that I can't restart |
| 26 |
these programs. Logging out and in again fixes the behavior. However it's |
| 27 |
a bit boring to login and out every few minutes. |

It effect the two computers on which I'm running Hardened Gentoo. I don't |
| 30 |
use vanilla-kernel or non-Hardened favors of Gentoo. |

I don't know what can be a reason why it runs fine with |

hardened-sources-2.6.20 but fails with the kernel versions above 2.6.20... |

Are there any clues on this issue? |

Maybe it's even not related to Hardened... |
