4 Which livecd are you using ?

6 The IDE cdrom bug is supposed to be fixed in the latest. And you're not supposed to get the problem with the current command line that you are using.

8 The last line "Freeing unused kernel memory: 368k freed" is the last thing which happens on the kernel side.
9 After that /sbin/init should be started by the kernel or in this case /bin/sh.

11 If you are using a installer cd, I've never tested it. You should try with a normal livecd.
