Indeed. We are quite busy with preparing for the migration, and will be busy with the actual migration once it begins. In the meantime, we are in the midst of a package freeze. As for Apache-2.2 (and in general) ... it is usually worth checking bugzilla for bugs about version bumps. In this case, a quick search yields:

The maintainer of tomcat went MIA several months ago. Recently, one of our users has been giving tomcat-5.5 some lovin in the experimental overlay. He also began work on updating mod_jk to go with it, but I'm not sure what the status is on that.
