I have my Yeeloong running n64 now, and it is *more* responsive than the QEMU VM is. n32 is still theoretically going to be faster, but since not much software handles n32 well (and x32 on AMD64 has the same problems). I haven't hit any major issues, although I think sometimes I tickle the CPU the wrong way and that causes a system hang: possibly a kernel issue. Presently, I am re-building my desktop environment, I have X working (fbdev; siliconmotion driver segfaults) and so now it's a case of building up everything else. Also, I have packaged up a kernel and disk image using these stages that may be useful for people to try out Gentoo/MIPS n64. Might be handy for other devs to try out their packages on MIPS, just create a new disk image and mount it as `hdb`, partition and format it, unpack an official stage3, copy /lib/modules and /lib/firmware over, then shut it down and use the new image in place of `hda`, the VM should boot that new stage. --=20 Stuart Longland (aka Redhatter, VK4MSL) I haven't lost my mind... ...it's backed up on a tape somewhere. --gq093i080X0UTHGNp3vHhGvRS4eUjieI3-- --071Wa2VSTmqobBFSJM6bvtAc5rqEOrVnN Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIcBAEBCAAGBQJZOksuAAoJEPlUu7t5SNVGcQQP/jceinSIXUA9CaXcfyBXsm4n rGQ7k6YR6WBYg0+udzLABMwojUU/g/9flEyWR3J0B+i23QSxa+JEKLulLaHbcCRa BNu2Wl/kJZTrPMANOr8NSyHQz0XZsQwZcIuvhNUaB2Fzk3gAa6kBFYBuzLaj4Dzf ApplHqS1lKg2lL/eQ+4GeT7t39aLlsgcH6B7gYrD1/y3Ye1Kv3ZP0bWsh8dsTy84 mD6eu00Yw+SXH2fzFLDYLmBIC4LQPMyPMNjVqdslutyljLP99B+vmpwX15rtxzI1 MfSDWIOVWGWDRk1P763YomfS8dmzC/rpHWWJvHvgIKCfIemrRJIowgPRSRsvRc/4 CiShZFUcaMZ7pBEMiIRE1id7eAaPZowAqrAXAH05plIPuYtQBW5ptbq4/JvQFL1L UTEKPl5jMCVllN2TlqEn081OiHmX7vE/oQcJocinOkwMamLiOe/lcsdF2Wsgp675 bodH1FlC7d6ewIF5t3dyxEE0XEneIosx2UxYIpJz1w3+nN4v5RjgEpMvDFM5wyxI CRYWeSyyspQ21ihF3oDe2f9cfN5RZJyGYzBaOBvsh6Ca6eKiKpHI8hQg/QV07FPi 4weDxuCOFtkR1wXYuRrSv7Cv5/CLBhRZc4aq4BvWpNaFLwk+1NqldIDxGjCSmfSK F/+G2NVHT7V6r+yEkEN9 =YTUq -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --071Wa2VSTmqobBFSJM6bvtAc5rqEOrVnN--
