Yuri, No harm done and thank you for the time you have spent on following up this opportunistic encounter. The trustees are acutely aware that one of the reasons the Gentoo Foundaion fell out of good standing last year was that several alternative long term stratergies for the future of the Gentoo Foundation were being investigated at the same time. SPI, continuing in New Mexico or reincorporating in another state (to name three) were all being looked at which overstreched the available resources. The present trustees are trying to learn from that and get the Gentooo Foundation back into good standing and standing on its own feet before we look at long term options, of which SPI is one. My own view is the the Gentoo developer pool and Foundation members have neither the skills nor interests to run the Foundation thmeselves in the long term, which leaves three alternatives. 1. Open Foundation Membership to all gentoo contributors 2. Join an umbrella organistion, such as the SPI. 3. Attract more peole with the skills and interests the Foundation needs to the developer pool. Option 3. May sound a bid odd but such people need not be software developers, they can be Gentoo staff, like myself. The time is not right to choose among these options yet as all the information is not available and its not at the top of the Trustees agenda yet. It is on the TODO list though. - -- Regards, Roy Bamford (NeddySeagoon) a member of gentoo-ops forum-mods treecleaners trustees -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAkim+FsACgkQTE4/y7nJvau34QCaA8wTw6pmwW6maWv//scjIy68 2/8AnRMLdZphd1yCeeuXg8fbc29hng4J =B54J -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
