As a last-minute candidate, I accept. |

|

I originally had no intention of running, but given the lack of |
10 |
candidates on the slate, I'd like to throw more weight behind Antarus's |
11 |
ideas of formally outsourcing the legal & financial business behind |
12 |
running the Foundation, as a prerequisite of being able to cleaning shut |
13 |
down or continue the Foundation as an entity. |
14 |
|
15 |
If you don't believe that is an achievable goal, or disagree with that |
16 |
direction, please rank reopen_nominations above me! |

To the above end, Antarus asked about formal fund-raising initiatives. |
19 |
I don't think Gentoo has ever undertaken full formal fund-raising, |
20 |
because it was always seen as blocked by the legal/financial concerns. |
21 |
|
22 |
I have personally tried to do some informal fund-raising in my role as |
23 |
treasurer or infra lead, reaching out to potential sponsors (mostly on |
24 |
the infra side), either by email or when at conferences. That is how the |
25 |
Packet.net ARM64 access came about, and how some of our hardware has |
26 |
been updated (like OpenGear's replacement console servers some years |
27 |
ago). I have some emails out for infra 10GBit switchgear as a result of |
28 |
the recent OpenStack conference, as the vendors asked me to get back to |
29 |
them in July, so I'll see what might happen there. |
