We could add an option for that, rather than make it mandatory, so that |

the existing behavior remains for flexibility. You could enable the new |
| 14 |
option by default via REPOMAN_DEFAULT_OPTS in make.conf. We could also |
| 15 |
add a per-repo setting for repos.conf (and possibly layout.conf in the |
| 16 |
repository) which you could override via the command line. |
