14 You don't need a patch to use metadata_overlay because it's included in 2.1_pre6. All you need to do is put "portdbapi.auxdbmodule = cache.metadata_overlay.database" in /etc/portage/modules and nothing more. If that's all you've done, then please file a bug for the CacheCorruption error.

22 Try `rm -rf /var/cache/edb/dep` and that might help. Normally, you don't need to run `emerge --metadata` when you have the metadata_overlay cache module enabled.
