Overlays were to go in PORTDIR_OVERLAY, that is still a valid option. |

It does not have as many repository control options, but the code is |

still present in portage. Layman's code has changed it's default to |

generate a repos.conf file. But there has been no talk amongst |

ourselves about fully deprecating the PORTDIR_OVERLAY variable yet. |
