[gentoo-powerpc] G5 install yaboot issues

I installed Gentoo on my G5 and tried to boot. I get to yaboot stage 1 then am presented with an invalid memory access error. I have been searching the forums and what I have skin is that people were downgrading yaboot to fix the issue. So I masked the current version and ran emerge -avt sys-boot/yaboot. The older image proceeded to build but failed. Has anyone ran into this? Is there a dependency that I need to downgrade as well (maybe e2fsprogs?)

I have set my system as 64base-32ul
