Hi all -
The planning process for 2004.1 has been finalized today. What does this
mean? It means that the release process (if you have not started
already) for 2004.1 is underway. The first thing that all arch release
coordinators *will have to do* is read and understand the new Release
Guidelines at
<>. It
is imperative that those are read as they detail the entire release

All information having to do with 2004.1 can be found on the 2004.1 info
page at

If you have an arch that is releasing but have not notified me yet, let
me know by Wednesday the 24th or that arch will not be releasing for

Here are some other dates to consider:

-Release date is April 28th. At this time, the release components will
be marked +r on the mirrors.

-All 2004.1 release components for your arch should be on your devspace,
per the release guidelines, by April 18th for final QA. We are crunched
for time in 2004.1 because 2004.0 was late. So please, please have QA as
close to perfect as possible before final QA.

-Releng will stage the mirrors on the 22nd.

I know that the timeline is cut close this time, but remember that
2004.1 is a polish on the release process, so the focus is to get it out
on time. Do what you have to do in order to get your arch's release
done, but do not compromise quality. Everything will be done on time if
the guidelines are followed and we all work together. 2004.1 will not be

Let's make this the best release yet!
