I didn't have the download issue, but I did have the digest issue. Even
though the file in question was in /usr/portage/distfiles/, I was
getting a "File Not Found" error with an extra slash in the path (ie
/usr/portage/distfiles//package.tar.bz2). Deleting the contents of that
directory resolved that particular issue.

Hey guys,

I thought maybe these issues were related to my home systems, but I've
noticed the same problems here at work today.

Over the weekend while doing emerges, I noticed that downloads during
emerge would just freeze and not resume. I could kill the emerge,
restart it, and the download would complete. But then the other issue is
that 85%
- 95% of all files downloaded while emerging end up with digest errors.
I delete the file, re-run emerge, and it works fine (sometimes).

What is going on here? Is there some new DoS causing the downloads to
hang? If so, what's up with the bad digests? I haven't noticed any new
attacks in my IDS logs, but I haven't been paying much attention to my
firewall logs.. could there be some exploit intercepting emerge
downloads?
