Hi All, |
2 |
|
3 |
I recently decided to abandon my little foray into FreeBSD and come back to gentoo on my |
4 |
home machine. I downloaded 2005.0, burned it and did the install with few hitches. I |
5 |
wasn't in the mood for kernel configuring, so I just let genkernel do it's thing, |
6 |
installing a 2.6 kernel. I decided not to bother with KDE or gnome and just install |
7 |
fluxbox, which is all I ever use anyway. |
8 |
|
9 |
So, here's my problem: my keyboard and/or mouse keep going berserk. Well, not so much |
10 |
berserk... they just stop working half the time. I share the same keyboard with a windows |
11 |
machine, and it works fine (I'm typing this email with it). |
12 |
|
13 |
Last week, I noticed a lot of entries in the logs like this: |
14 |
|
15 |
Aug 16 22:33:53 venus atkbd.c: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0xe0 on |
16 |
isa0060/serio0). |
17 |
Aug 16 22:33:53 venus atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e060 <keycode>' to make it known. |
18 |
Aug 16 22:40:18 venus atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0x8e on |
19 |
isa0060/serio0). |
20 |
Aug 16 22:40:18 venus atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e00e <keycode>' to make it known. |
21 |
|
22 |
And I found a thread on the forums where the poster went ahead and set the keycodes as |
23 |
indicated... for all of them. So, last week, I took the log and cut and paste it together |
24 |
to make a script that set all of them... at least until today. Just a little while ago it |
25 |
started printing these lines again, and I lost the mouse and the keyboard. Restarted X and |
26 |
it was okay for a few minutes, but then it freaked out again and now I can't type anything |
27 |
at the command line even after killing X. |
28 |
|
29 |
Oh, I also managed to find the mouse and keyboard boot info from my logs: |
30 |
|
31 |
Aug 9 20:28:35 venus input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard on isa0060/serio0 |
32 |
Aug 9 20:28:35 venus input: ImExPS/2 Generic Explorer Mouse on isa0060/serio1 |
33 |
|
34 |
So, if anyone has any ideas or can point me in any direction at all, that would be great. |
35 |
|
36 |
Ben |
37 |
|
38 |
PS: Wow, I'm logged into the box via ssh (which is working fine) and looking at the |
39 |
logs... when I lost the keyboard about twenty minues ago, there's this MTRR stuff and then |
40 |
hundreds of lines with the call trace stuff: |
41 |
|
42 |
