9 I've seen exactly the same on a few <= 2.4.30 systems... New logins via
10 ssh or directly on the console, won't work at all (both via pam). It
11 seems that this behavior was related to the syslog-ng daemon, which
12 hangs completely.
13 As soon as the daemon gets restarted, everything comes back to work as
14 before.
15 Unfortunately I didn't had the time (yet) to discover what causes the
16 syslog hanging :(
