Hi all,

The Google Summer of Code is a great program that's gotten us a lot of
new developers over the past years we've participated.
The time for it has come around again and we need project ideas!

We're looking for something that a university student could accomplish
in a summer's worth of full-time work. I'm sure that many of you have
projects that you've never been able to get around to, and this is a
great opportunity to make them happen.

If you'd like to mentor a project, that would be awesome! But even if
you don't, please put some ideas here:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/2018/Ideas

Take a look at last year's list to see examples:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/2017/Ideas

The time limit for adding ideas is January 23 17:00 UTC

Just to avoid making a mess, what is the procedure to recycle the ideas
put in the previous year?

I think you can just recycle the idea by copying it to the new wiki page.

I made
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/2018/Ideas/Full_Rust_Support
but it does not appear in the ideas page...

You need to add it yourself as explained in the ideas page:

Adding Ideas
First, open this link in a new tab/window. Change the title
My_new_idea in the URL to the actual title (use underscores instead
of spaces), load the page again, fill in all the information and
save the article. Then, edit this page and include a link to it.
For assistance, talk to calchan or rafaelmartins on IRC.

Best regards,
Andrew Savchenko

I added a reference. Thanks for the idea.
