Afaik, none. It was a surprise to me too when I got the bill. My lawyer just |
7 |
billed the Foundation-related expenses to the Gentoo Foundation directly |
8 |
rather than Gentoo Technologies, Inc.. And it is really no difference either |
9 |
way, it's mainly an accounting issue. The important point is that donations |
10 |
are being recorded and set aside, as well as foundation-related expenses. So |
11 |
rather than having me pay for these expenses and you not knowing about them, |
12 |
you will now have a tally of the expenses as well as donations and be able |
13 |
to see where the money is going... and if it has nowhere to go, it goes to |
14 |
the Foundation's bank account. |
15 |

I am setting aside all donations received by the Store, so money left over |
20 |
beyond the legal expenses will go direct to the Foundation. Since it looks |
21 |
like the Foundation is getting some good free legal help, hopefully this |
22 |
will be sooner rather than later. Can this lawyer do free trademark |
23 |
registration? If yes and she is able to take that process over from |
24 |
peacocklaw.com, that could end up saving around $3000 of future legal bills. |
25 |
|
26 |
Also, one comment about your mention of the Foundation running a Store... |
27 |
part of the agreement of me leaving the project is that I get to run the |
28 |
store for as long as I choose. My understanding of this is that the |
29 |
Foundation does not have an option of opening up a competing store for as |
30 |
long as I choose to run the official store. |
31 |
