Dear all, |
2 |
Drobbins popped into irc to talk to me about where the transfer stuff |
3 |
currently resides. I told him that our lawyers are still reviewing it. |
4 |
He's in a hurry to get things wrapped up (I believe that he's starting a |
5 |
new job soon), and he had a proposal: |
6 |
|
7 |
The trustees send drobbins an e-mail promising that his |
8 |
drobbins@g.o mail forward will be maintained as long as drobbins |
9 |
wishes. |
10 |
|
11 |
Drobbins' lawyer will file the trademark and copyright paperwork with |
12 |
the Fed by the end of the week that they are now owned by the Foundation. |
13 |
A copy of the paperwork will be sent to the Foundation Secretary. |
14 |
|
15 |
Drobbins will change his godaddy.com account so that the address and |
16 |
contact info for the gentoo.org domains are the Foundation (and provide |
17 |
us w/ the account name and password). It would then just be up to us to |
18 |
keep godaddy.com paid. |
19 |
|
20 |
Drobbins feels that this should handle the vast majority of the issues, |
21 |
but he's open to discuss any remaining issues in the future. |
22 |
|
23 |
Here's my view on all of this. We should promise drobbins his |
24 |
maintained e-mail forward regardless. Gentoo owes it to him, and if he |
25 |
had wanted he could have required that we change the name when the |
26 |
foundation was established. I'm quite grateful that he didn't do that. |
27 |
|
28 |
As for transferring the IP, drobbins owns it, so he certainly doesn't |
29 |
need our permission to give it to us. He can do that regardless of what |
30 |
we say. It will be good to ask our legal folks to check that he (and |
31 |
his lawyer) have done so properly, of course. |
32 |
|
33 |
Okay, feel free to flame me to a crisp now. |
