Also bei mir ist das:

# /etc/conf.d/consolefont

CONSOLEFONT="lat9w-16" ( Tippfehler ?)

und für das €- Symbol
CONSOLETRANSLATION="8859-15_to_uni"

Vieleicht behebt das dein Prob ?
