Le «Gentoo Release Engineering project» est fier de vous annoncer la sortie de 
Gentoo Linux 2006.1, nom de code «Project Mayhem». Après plusieurs mois 
d'existence similaire à celle d'une société secrète, incluant des mots codés 
et des poignées de mains secretes, les règles de l'équipe, la première 
étant "Tu ne dois pas parler de 2006.1", ont dégagé.

Ce fut difficile, avec beaucoup de sang, de sueur et de larmes. L'équipe a été 
poussé jusqu'à ses limites (et parfois au-delà), mais ils ont apris qu'avec 
de la perseverence et suffisament de savon (Ndt : ??), ils étaient capable de 
changer le monde ! Pour la team, il est temps de faire la fête car le travail 
est fini. Pour vous, la fête consiste à démarrer une nouvelle gentoo ! Cette 
version apporte nombres d'améliorations à la flexible et puissante 
distribution Linux communautaire.

Les AMD64, HPPA, x86, PPC et PPC-64 tournant en 32-bits utilisent maintenant 
GCC 4.1. AMD64, PPC et x86 utilisent la glibc 2.4 et tout le monde passe 
au «baselayout» 1.12.1.
