The cards have two chips because they have two display outputs (you can |
28 |
connect two monitors). |

Yes, that's -- almost--normal too: |
39 |
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 01:00:0 |

The chip will be found automatically when you load the appropriate |
53 |
drivers, depending on how many monitors you have connected. |
54 |
|
55 |
I, for example have only 1 CRT connected; the secondary output always |
56 |
gives an error saying that it's "not found", because there's no monitor |
57 |
connected to it (so the identification signal sent along that channel |
58 |
goes into oblivion). |
59 |
|
60 |
For an X300, depending on what you want, you can use the Xorg-7.0 |
61 |
"radeon" driver if you only want/need 2D; if you want/need 3D/OpenGL, or |
62 |
are using Xorg-6.8, you should probably "emerge ati-drivers" for the |
63 |
proprietary fglrx drivers. They "suck", but they're way better than |
64 |
nothing at all. |
65 |
|
66 |
Hope this helps, |
67 |
Holly |
