In preparation for cleaning my world file, I ran emerge -p --depclean |
2 |
world. It listed these packages to be removed: |
3 |
|
4 |
app-crypt/gpgme |
5 |
app-crypt/opencdk |
6 |
app-text/rman |
7 |
dev-libs/libtasn1 |
8 |
dev-libs/lzo |
9 |
dev-python/pyxml |
10 |
gnome-base/gail |
11 |
net-libs/gnutls |
12 |
net-libs/libsoup |
13 |
perl-core/Storable |
14 |
perl-core/Test-Simple |
15 |
sys-devel/bc |
16 |
virtual/x11 |
17 |
x11-apps/sessreg |
18 |
x11-apps/ttmkfdir |
19 |
x11-apps/xcursorgen |
20 |
x11-apps/xdm |
21 |
x11-apps/xdriinfo |
22 |
x11-base/opengl-update |
23 |
x11-libs/libFS |
24 |
x11-libs/libXTrap |
25 |
x11-libs/libXevie |
26 |
x11-libs/libXprintAppUtil |
27 |
x11-libs/libXprintUtil |
28 |
x11-libs/libXvMC |
29 |
x11-libs/liboldX |
30 |
x11-themes/gentoo-xcursors |
31 |
x11-themes/gnome-themes |
32 |
x11-themes/gtk-engines |
33 |
x11-themes/xcursor-themes |
34 |
|
35 |
Obviously many, if not most of them are needed. Remove virtual/x11?????? |
36 |
|
37 |
I noticed that many of them are dependencies of virtual/x11 so I added |
38 |
that to my world file, re-ran the --depclean and this time got only |
39 |
about half the recommendations. Was adding virtual/x11 to my world file |
40 |
the proper thing to do? Wonder why it wasn't there in the first place? |
