Howdy Gentooers. |
2 |
|
3 |
I've created a relatively simple ebuild that strictly follows Dave |
4 |
Sill's "Life with qmail" instructions found at http:// |
5 |
www.lifewithqmail.org. I'd be happy if a few other folks could test |
6 |
it out as well. |
7 |
|
8 |
From the web page: |
9 |
|
10 |
"qmail mail server software, installed and patched per http:// |
11 |
www.lifewithqmail.org |
12 |
|
13 |
NOTE: This ebuild breaks and differs from standard and accepted |
14 |
Gentoo conventions, with strict intention of following the "Life With |
15 |
qmail" installation instructions as closely as possible; but |
16 |
automating the process with Portage. Therefore, you may notice |
17 |
untypical behavior from this package (no /etc/init.d/ script, for |
18 |
instance). |
19 |
|
20 |
AGAIN, if you're looking for qmail done the "Gentoo way", use the |
21 |
Gentooified qmail package included in portage; you will be happier. |
22 |
However, if you are a minimalist and prefer things done according to |
23 |
DJB himself and most of the qmail pros on the qmail mailing list, |
24 |
look no further. |
25 |
|
26 |
FINAL NOTE: ucspi-tcp and daemontools are installed along with |
27 |
netqmail in this ebuild, per the LWQ guide. You will receive "blocks" |
28 |
from portage if those packages have been installed seperately, so |
29 |
don't fret!" |
