I need to make a correction:  Recorded programs do not work.  As for
mysql.txt not loading, I did some checking on my system and here's what
I found:

camille ~ # locate mysql.txt
/.mythtv/mysql.txt
/etc/mythtv/.mythtv/mysql.txt
camille ~ # ls -l /.mythtv/mysql.txt /etc/mythtv/.mythtv/mysql.txt
