Hi guys, and Holly, |
2 |
|
3 |
I ran a revdep-rebuild on my main rig and it says it needs to do this: |
4 |
|
5 |
> [ebuild UD] gnome-base/gnome-vfs-2.10.1-r2 [2.12.2] |
6 |
|
7 |
|
8 |
OK, the "U" means Upgrade right? The "D" means downgrade right? What |
9 |
the heck is going on here? How is it going to upgrade then downgrade |
10 |
and why? |
11 |
|
12 |
Here's the whole thing. |
13 |
|
14 |
> root@smoker / # revdep-rebuild -p |
15 |
> |
16 |
> Checking reverse dependencies... |
17 |
> Packages containing binaries and libraries broken by any package update, |
18 |
> will be recompiled. |
19 |
> |
20 |
> Collecting system binaries and libraries... using existing |
21 |
> /root/.revdep-rebuild.1_files. |
22 |
> |
23 |
> Collecting complete LD_LIBRARY_PATH... using existing |
24 |
> /root/.revdep-rebuild.2_ldpath. |
25 |
> |
26 |
> Checking dynamic linking consistency... using existing |
27 |
> /root/.revdep-rebuild.3_rebuild. |
28 |
> |
29 |
> Assigning files to ebuilds... using existing |
30 |
> /root/.revdep-rebuild.4_ebuilds. |
31 |
> |
32 |
> Evaluating package order... using existing /root/.revdep-rebuild.5_order. |
33 |
> |
34 |
> All prepared. Starting rebuild... |
35 |
> emerge --oneshot --nodeps -p =gnome-base/gnome-vfs-2.10.1-r2 |
36 |
> |
37 |
> These are the packages that I would merge, in order: |
38 |
> |
39 |
> Calculating dependencies ...done! |
40 |
> [ebuild UD] gnome-base/gnome-vfs-2.10.1-r2 [2.12.2] |
41 |
> Now you can remove -p (or --pretend) from arguments and re-run |
42 |
> revdep-rebuild. |
43 |
> root@smoker / # |
44 |
|
45 |
|
46 |
Can someone clear this one up for me? I'm a little more confused than |
47 |
normal on this one. |
48 |
|
49 |
While I am at it. I don't use Gnome so why is it installing it? I use KDE. |
50 |
|
51 |
Thanks |
52 |
Dale |
53 |
:-) |

To err is human, I'm most certainly human. |
57 |
|
58 |
I have four rigs: |
59 |
|
60 |
1: Home built; Abit NF7 ver 2.0 w/ AMD 2500+ CPU, 1GB of ram and right now two 80GB hard drives. |
61 |
2: Home built; Iwill KK266-R w/ AMD 1GHz CPU, 256MBs of ram and a 4GB drive. |
62 |
3: Home built; Gigabyte GA-71XE4 w/ 800MHz CPU, 128MBs of ram and a 2.5GB drive. |
63 |
4: Compaq Proliant 6000 Server w/ Quad 200MHz CPUs, 128MBs of ram and a 4.3GB SCSI drive. |
64 |
|
65 |
All run Gentoo Linux, all run folding. #1 is my desktop, 2, 3, and 4 are set up as servers. |
