Don't know if I'm answering my own question but.... In fiddling around |

I saw that the audio output, Audio -> Audio Device, was set to something |

that it shouldn't be. I changed it to the proper device and it now works. |

Having said that, now if I close vlc then restart, it's back to the |

original, wrong, device and hence, no sound. Also if it is set correctly |

and I then select the Audio menu, it loses the correct audio device, and |

the sound. As typing this, it occurred to me that in this case and my |

original question, that it is user interface actions that cause the loss |
39 |
of sound. Maybe there are still problems with the qt5 integration? |
