8 I've just fixed something on my system which may be similar. I was
9 seeing network error messages during emerges, which were preventing
10 logmail being sent. Turns out that this was because the system
11 couldn't figure out its DNS hostname (unsurprising, as it doesn't have
12 one). A quick tweak to /etc/hosts to provide a fully qualified name
13 was all that was needed.
