5 gettext is not providing the codeset.m4 file, which was the file to define
6 AM_LANGINFO_CODESET. Unfortunately, in commit [1], it was removed from gettext,
7 so you need to grab it from the immediately previous tree [2]. Copy the file
8 into /usr/share/aclocal and try emerging gnokii again.

10 This is obviously not a permanent fix, but it will confirm the issue.
11 Erroneously, the Portage File List (e-file) will still report that gettext
12 provides codeset:
