Maybe Gnome is overriding the keyboard setting, doing a setxkbmap of |

its own? Putting it .xinitrc then comes too early. Try putting it |

in .bashrc and make a Terminal open on every startup? On make Gnome |
| 11 |
stop setting the keyboard. |
