6 Yes. This is also why you cannot boot.

8 I just checked both gnetoo-sources-2.6.14-r2 and
9 vanilla-sources-2.6.14.2, and both have SIL and NV options. Both
10 depend upon SCSI_SATA, PCI, and EXPERIMENTAL, which means you must
11 select "Code maturity level options->Prompt for development..."
