vga=794 gets you the same but in 16 bit, I find 65000 colours is enough for bash :-) 0x31b is 795, but I tend to remember those codes in decimal, however much it hurts my geek cred. -- Neil Bothwick "Facts are stubborn things, but statistics are more pliable." - Mark Twain
