Is the fglrx kernel module loaded? If so, does /dev/dri/card0 exist? |

Remember that you must remerge ati-drivers each time you build a |

kernel...and that /usr/src/linux needs to be a symlink to the |

configured sources of your _currently_ running kernel if want to build |

Are you using the radeon framebuffer driver (CONFIG_FB_RADEON) in the |

kernel? If so, that is probably the issue. Try removing that, and |

using just the standard vga/vesa framebuffer driver or even just a |

text-mode console. |
