IMHO, VMWare is well worth the selling price. This is one of the most
useful, robust, solid, and transparent products I've ever used. Granted, I
use it on an XP host with Gentoo in a VM, but I am just blown away every
time I think about what it's doing and enabling me to do. The fact that
they're giving away the player and server now free is even more astonishing.
I strongly urge you to buy your copy and support that company.

I just got an evaluation copy of VMWare Workstation 5.5, and I'm momentarily
glad
I didn't pay for this thing. It seems to expect a RedHat style runlevel
system.
Has anybody successfully fooled with this thing to make it work on Gentoo?

At the moment, its problems seem to be related to the daemon management
features. I could clone them, but it would be a lot of work.
