I did a bit more checking on this, and you are right, ggi is |

definitely not the answer. |

The ebuilds let the mplayer configure script autodetect for various |

drivers. It also looks like mplayer changed the VESA driver for |

1.0_pre8 [1] to depend upon the lrmi library and their own vesautils |

stuff. Previous (pre7) versions did not. |

The bad news is that while lrmi exists in the portage tree, there is |

no ebuild for vesautils. |

So for now if you want the vesa driver, you will have to stick with _pre7... |
