1	it's always the way, but I have vmplayer running now, by some magic set

4	sudo emerge --config vmware-player
5	sudo /opt/vmware/player/bin/vmplayer (didn't work)
6	VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=force vmplayer

8	the final command worked, where it didn't before, so I don't get why.
9	Now to try vmware-workstation and see...
