Hello! |
2 |
|
3 |
I'd like to be able to run "hddtemp" <http://www.guzu.net/linux/hddtemp.php> |
4 |
with "plain" user rights - ie. not with root |
5 |
rights. What's to be done, so that this is |
6 |
possible? |
7 |
|
8 |
alexander@blatt ~ $ LC_ALL=C hddtemp /dev/hda |
9 |
/dev/hda: Permission denied |
10 |
alexander@blatt ~ $ ls -la /dev/hda |
11 |
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 3, 0 21. Jan 09:09 /dev/hda |
12 |
alexander@blatt ~ $ id |
13 |
uid=1000(alexander) gid=100(users) |
14 |
Gruppen=4(adm),6(disk),10(wheel),16(cron),17(console),18(audio),19(cdrom),35(games),80(cdrw),100(users),250(portage),410(plugdev) |
15 |
alexander@blatt ~ $ ls -la `which hddtemp` |
16 |
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 27712 21. Jan 08:02 /usr/sbin/hddtemp |
17 |
|
18 |
As you can see, I get the error message "Permission |
19 |
denied" when I run "hddtemp /dev/hda". As you can |
20 |
further see, the group disk has read-/write-access on |
21 |
the device file. And lastly, you can see that my user |
22 |
is member of the group "disk". |
23 |
|
24 |
Why do I get the Permission denied error message? And |
25 |
what's to be done? |
26 |
|
27 |
I do NOT want to set hddtemp set-uid root. |
28 |
|
29 |
Thanks a lot, |
30 |
|
