I couldn't have any sound before althouth i configured it just as what the alsa-guide in gentoo wiki tells. It always says:

Sound server informational message:

Error while initializing the sound driver:

device: default can't be opened for capture (Invalid argument)

The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

when i start my kde.

But today ,i setuped a new gentoo ,everything is ok sepecially with
sound. It's so weird! After a long time of trying,i finded that the two
init script were different. The gentoo which is without sound hava
updated several days ago,and the new one which has sound have not
updated.I think the one without sound can't detect my device . Then i
copied the diretory of /etc in the gentoo with sound to the one without
sound,reboot,and "cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp",there was beep noise!

Additional, both of my gentoo's version are 2006.0.The one without sound have gcc4.10,and the other one hava gcc 3.4*.

I don't know if there is any bug in the inti script.

Is there anybody else has the same problem as me?
