19 From years of frustrating bug-hunting I've learned that I need to delete
20 and re-create my cups printers each and every time I update cups.

22 I always reinstall my printer(s) with hp-setup, not with any cups tools.
23 That routine may not be necessary but it's always been sufficient :)
