16 I've found that it isn't necessary to limit the tmpfs to half your RAM. I
17 had it set to 6 GB on this box with 4 GB RAM. The kernel seems effective at
18 managing this arrangement, swapping out to disk when needed - which, as you
19 say, isn't often. When it does that I only find out by running top; it has no
20 discernible effect on the desktop.
