1 Thanks for the responses folks. Neither suggestion made a difference;
2 I disabled the "AllowEmptyInput" option, ensured xf86-input-evdev, and
3 then removed all references to the trackpoint in the xorg.conf file.

5 It's worth noting that if I configure the InputDevice (commented in
6 the email below) to "TrackPoint" it works without issues (but then the
7 trackpad doesn't work).
